A Brief History of the Tasmanian Tiger

Welcome to our collection of Tasmanian Tiger King images and wallpapers! The Tasmanian Tiger, or Thylacine, is an iconic animal that has become synonymous with the island state of Tasmania. As its name suggests, the tiger king is a fearsome creature, with a distinct striped coat and sharp claws. If you’re looking for some amazing images and wallpapers of the Tasmanian Tiger King, then you’ve come to the right place! We have an extensive collection of images and wallpapers featuring the tiger king from across its range in Tasmania.

The Tasmanian Tiger, also known as the Thylacine, was once found throughout Australia and New Guinea. The species is believed to have become extinct in the early 20th century due to hunting and habitat loss. It was the last of its family to survive in mainland Australia, and is believed to have evolved from a common ancestor over 4 million years ago.
The Tasmanian Tiger had a yellow-brown fur with dark stripes on its back, and resembled a large dog. It was an apex predator, preying on small mammals, birds, and reptiles. The species is estimated to have weighed around 40kg and measured up to 1.8m in length.

In Tasmania, it was declared a protected species in 1936, but by this time it was already close to extinction due to increased persecution from farmers and bounty hunters. The last confirmed Tasmanian Tiger died in Hobart Zoo in 1936.

The Extinction of the Tasmanian Tiger

The Tasmanian Tiger, also known as the thylacine, was native to Tasmania and mainland Australia. It was a large carnivorous marsupial that looked like a cross between a fox and a wolf. Sadly, due to habitat destruction, persecution, and disease, the species went extinct in 1936.
Tiger King is a fitting nickname for the thylacine due to its large size and fierce nature. The Tasmanian Tiger had a striped coat of fur, which led to its other name, the “Tasmanian tiger”. It was around 2-3 feet tall and could weigh up to 30 pounds.
Unfortunately, this beautiful creature faced significant challenges throughout its existence. By the time Europeans arrived in Tasmania, the thylacine population had been reduced by hunting, competition with introduced species, and disease.
In 1875, Tasmania enacted the world’s first law protecting an animal species, the Tasmanian Tiger Protection Act. Unfortunately, it was too late to save the species as it went extinct in 1936, due to further hunting and habitat destruction.
This event marked the extinction of one of the world’s most iconic species – the Tasmanian Tiger King.
