Android is a type of mobile operating system that has been developed by Google, based on a modified version of the Linux kernel and other open source software and can be designed initially for touchscreen mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. The Android TV for televisions, Android Auto, and Wear OS has been developed by Google and each one has a specialized user interface. Android variants are also used on game consoles, digital cameras, PCs and other electronic items.
The Android was originally developed by Android Inc. Later, Google bought in 2005. Android has been unveiled in the year 2007 with the first commercial Android device that has been launched in September 2008. In addition to that the Android is also associated with a suite of proprietary software which was developed by Google that includes some core apps for services such as Gmail and Google Search. It also includes the application store and digital distribution platform Google Play, and associated development platform.
